IDEAL BOILERS – Over 100 Years Old!
Rich Heritage
In 2005 Ideal Boilers celebrated it’s centenary. A centenary of innovation, evolution and industry, that began, all those years ago, in Hull when the National Radiator Company was formed. Over the years that followed, Ideal rapidly built a reputation for high quality products that met the ever-changing demands of the marketplace. From taking boilers from basements to kitchens in the 1920s, through to introducing high efficiency technology into the UK in the 1980s, Ideal has consistently been a pioneer in design and engineering.
Today the company remains at the forefront of the domestic and commercial heating markets, still leading the industry in setting new standards and expanding technological boundaries. Ideal Boilers remains true to it's principles of quality, innovation and value; building on it's rich heritage as it looks to the future.
Ahead of the Game
Ideal Boilers pre-dates penicillin, television and was manufacturing domestic boilers almost thirty years before the first football World Cup. Starting life in 1905, in Hull, the company quickly became established as a leading manufacturer of domestic boilers.
Ideal Boilers has always strived to meet changing customer needs with pioneering design. In the 1920s, when the market demanded boilers to be placed in kitchens rather than basements as had been the case at the time, Ideal introduced the revolutionary Cookanheat. A combination open fire, central heating boiler, cooking fire and hot cupboard, the Cookanheat did more to introduce central heating into low priced homes than any other manufacturer of the day.
The company has maintained this innovative, technology-led approach throughout its history; from the Cookanheat, to harnessing gas power in the 1930s, through to pioneering high efficiency in the 1980s, Ideal has always been ahead of the game. With major changes for domestic boilers that occurred in April 2005, Ideal was the first manufacturer to offer a full range of condensing boilers that met the new Government legislation.
Your Reliable Choice
Now in 2006, our latest domestic products the icos 30 and 36 continue this tradition of high quality technology for modern day living, and catering for all types of installation criteria. Far from resting on its achievements, Ideal Boilers continue to develop the next generation of boilers to meet the next generation's demands.
Stelrad Radiators
Stelrad, as the UK market leader in central heating radiators, offers the widest range in more sizes than any other manufacturer. Stelrad’s portfolio also includes an exciting and extensive range of decorative radiators and towel rails.
Stelrad began in 1936 manufacturing steel column radiators from a purpose built factory in Southall. Nearly seventy years later the company now operates a highly advanced production and distribution facility in Mexborough, producing over two and a half million steel panel radiators a year. In 2004, Stelrad sold over three million radiators in the UK.
The products are manufactured on a 17-acre site in South Yorkshire which includes production and distribution facilities, using the latest manufacturing techniques. There are now 4 high-speed manufacturing lines, operating 5 days a week, 24-hours a day.
Following a recent investment of £4.2 million in a state-of-the-art distribution centre, stocks have increased from 140,000 to 260,000 radiators and products are now available from a network of over 1000 merchants. An advanced ordering system, centralised warehouse and purpose built transportation fleet, ensures delivery of all Stelrad products within five to eight days.
With extensive research and development facilities in Belgium, Stelrad is always looking to bring innovative products to market and extend our wide product range even further to cater for every taste. Whether that is developing a spectacular designer radiator, such as the Optia, or adding sophistication to panel radiators, such as the Compact with Style, Stelrad is innovative in every sense of the word.
Every radiator is kite-marked to quality standards under BS EN 442 for output and specification, and manufactured under quality procedures certified by ISO 9001. As a result of this commitment to excellence, Stelrad offers a 10-year guarantee on all Elite and Compact radiators. This industry-first demonstrates the company’s confidence in the quality of its Stelrad panel radiator range.
